My work spans two sides of design that naturally connect. On one side, I design residential homes through my studio, Modern Homesteads Design, focusing on modern farmhouses and contemporary rural homes built for real life. On the other hand, I work in environmental graphic design, helping shape commercial spaces through signage, branding, spatial graphics, and architecture that guide how people experience a place.
What ties both together is a simple idea: good design should feel thoughtful, functional, and natural to the people who use it.
I’ve spent nearly two decades working in design, developing projects that range from custom homes and rural retreats to retail spaces and large commercial environments. Whether I’m designing a house plan or contributing to a retail space, I approach each project the same way, focusing on clarity, proportion, and how people move through and experience the space as a whole.
Residential work allows me to think about how families live day to day. Environmental graphic design lets me shape how people navigate and understand a space. While the projects may look different, both rely on the same fundamentals: thoughtful design, clear communication, and solving problems in a way that feels natural and lasting.
Outside of design, I’m a husband, a dad, and someone who appreciates craftsmanship and the process of building things well. Those influences tend to find their way into the work, too.
